As the business grew, Nehalem Bay Hardwoods earned a reputation as the PNW’s trusted hardwood flooring specialist.
2021
New Ownership
Joshua Schmidt, 3rd generation hardwood craftsman, purchase Nehalem Bay Hardwoods to increase its ability to provide superior service throughout Oregon’s North Coast.

President & CEO
Joshua Schmidt
Meet Joshua Schmidt, the President and CEO of our company. Raised in a family of craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and artists, Joshua has always been driven by a passion for building things the right way, with exceptional attention to detail and care.
As a third-generation hardwood craftsman, he carries forward a legacy of fine woodworking, infusing a personal touch into every project he and his team undertake.
Outside of work, Joshua enjoys skiing and surfing, as well as traveling to new destinations to experience different cultures and landscapes. He shares his life with his partner, Dana, and their beloved dog, Kenny Boi. Family and friends are incredibly important to Joshua, providing support and inspiration in all that he does.
Joshua’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship is evident in the successful growth and reputation of the company. His leadership inspires those around him to strive for excellence and embrace the artistry of their work.
Meet the Project Foreman
Shawn Ballard
Shawn Ballard is a dedicated Project Foreman with over 12 years of experience in the hardwood flooring industry. Known for his commitment to excellence and meticulous attention to detail, Shawn has played a pivotal role in numerous successful projects, collaborating closely with original founder and current owner, Joshua Schmidt, to uphold the highest standards of quality.
Outside of work, Shawn is a proud father of three: two boys and a daughter. His family is his greatest joy, and he enjoys spending quality time with them whenever possible.
With his extensive expertise and a passion for craftsmanship, Shawn continues to contribute to the success of the company and inspire those around him.
